HGV Class 2 Driver

Established since 1991, Gaskells Waste Management is a fast-growing waste and recycling company operating from Welshpool covering Midwales.

We are looking to employ full-time Drivers to become part of our respected driving force, to enhance and grow the business.

The Role

To provide a professional service to all our customers, with a friendly and helpful attitude to deliver an exceptional customer service experience.

What we ask from you:

• ability to drive refuse trade vehicle and scope to advance onto an FEL vehicle.
• to carry out your duties in a professional and productive way
• to ensure all rounds are completed efficiently and on time
• to drive in a safe and economic manner
• to comply with the company’s health and safety policy, work instructions and guidance documents
• to accurately record your working day using a company tablet
• to ensure customers premises/properties are left in a tidy condition
• to effectively communicate with the Traffic Controllers at Head Office
• to report any near misses or accidents in a timely manner following the correct procedures
• to wear company supplied uniform and issued PPE
• to be flexible, reliable and a team player
• to be able work on your own initiative

Experience required for the role:

• 4am start
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Driver CPC card essential
• Knowledge of Tachograph legislation, DVSA Rules and Regulations
• Flexibility to work on varied routes as and when required to meet the needs of the business
• Available to work weekends as and when needed.
• Available to work Bank Holidays
• Local area knowledge beneficial
• Waste Industry experience advantageous
• Physically fit due to manual labour

This is a full-time permanent role offering:

• £16.71 per hour
• Day in lieu for working a Bank Holiday
• Ongoing development and training including contribution for CPC
• 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays, increasing to 33 days including Banks Holidays after 5 years service
• Christmas day and new years day off due to business closure
