High School Assistant Girls Basketball Coach
Position is contingent upon having 15 student-athlete participants- Instruction & Training: Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, techniques, and strategies during practices and games.
- Game Management: Assist with in-game coaching, such as tracking fouls, timeouts, and substituting players, while analyzing opponent weaknesses.
- Administrative Tasks: Maintain inventory of equipment and uniforms, assist with travel arrangements, and ensure compliance with school and state athletic association (e.g., WVSSAC) regulations. Attend all home and away games.
- Player Development & Welfare: Monitor student-athlete academic progress, provide mentorship, and uphold safety precautions to prevent injury.
- Program Support: Promote the team within the community, communicate with parents, assist with recruitment, and support the head coach's philosophy.
- Certifications: Valid state coaching certification (e.g., West Virginia Department of Education) and completion of all required WVSSAC coursework.
- Experience: Previous coaching or playing experience (e.g., high school or collegiate) preferred.
- Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of basketball rules, techniques, and safety protocols.
