Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with state standards in technology, science, and mathematics disciplines such as algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and discrete math.
- Develop innovative curriculum materials that incorporate current industry practices and emerging technologies to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Facilitate hands-on laboratory activities including dissection, microbiology experiments, molecular biology techniques, and scientific research projects to deepen practical knowledge.
- Utilize learning technology tools to create interactive lessons, virtual labs, and assessments that support diverse learning styles.
- Manage classroom environments effectively by applying behavior management strategies and maintaining a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Prepare students for standardized testing through targeted review sessions and tutoring while providing academic advising to support individual student goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues on instructional design, curriculum development, and integration of library services to enrich educational offerings.
- Mentor students interested in STEM careers by guiding research projects, supporting extracurricular activities, and fostering mentorship opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Science, Mathematics or related field; Master’s degree preferred with higher education teaching experience.
- Proven classroom experience with high school students in a science or technology setting; private school experience is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of STEM subjects including biology (cell biology, biochemistry, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (differential equations), and mathematics (algebra through calculus).
- Demonstrated laboratory experience with dissection techniques, microbiology procedures, molecular biology methods, and research laboratory practices.
- Familiarity with instructional design principles, lesson planning strategies, and assessment methods aligned with standardized testing requirements.
- Excellent communication skills for effective teaching, mentoring students, and collaborating with staff members.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment for all learners.
- Experience working with diverse student populations including special education needs; knowledge of Montessori or other specialized educational approaches is a plus.
