High School English Teacher

Duties

  • Develop comprehensive curricula aligned with state standards and incorporate best practices in instructional design and assessment.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that incorporate AP style guidelines, Chicago Manual of Style standards, and creative writing techniques to enhance students’ writing skills.
  • Utilize learning technology tools to facilitate interactive lessons, virtual assignments, and digital literacy development.
  • Provide individualized tutoring and academic advising to support students’ progress in English language arts and related subjects such as journalism, linguistics, and math when applicable.
  • Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management strategies while fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Conduct assessments including standardized testing preparation and project-based evaluations; analyze results to inform instruction.
  • Mentor students in research projects, library services utilization, and extracurricular activities related to writing or literary clubs.

Experience

  • Prior classroom experience teaching high school English or related subjects in a private school setting is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development with a focus on literacy education, creative writing, and standardized testing preparation.
  • Strong knowledge of AP style, copy editing techniques, proofreading skills, and the Chicago Manual of Style for academic writing standards.
  • Experience working with diverse learners including those requiring special education accommodations or behavior management support.
  • Proven ability to design engaging lesson plans that incorporate instructional technology and promote active student participation.
  • Background in higher education teaching or mentoring future educators is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with organizational skills necessary for lesson planning, instructional delivery, and collaboration with colleagues and parents. Join us in shaping confident communicators who are ready to excel academically and creatively!

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $53,089.28 per year
