High School Special Education Teacher

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students with developmental disabilities and other learning challenges. This role involves creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. The Special Education Teacher will collaborate with parents, staff, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Assess students' progress and adapt teaching methods to ensure effective learning outcomes.
• Create and maintain IEPs for students, ensuring compliance with educational regulations.
• Provide tutoring and additional support in literacy education and other subjects as needed.
• Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and specialists to support students' educational goals.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
• Foster a nurturing atmosphere that promotes childhood development and self-esteem.

Skills

• Strong proofreading skills to ensure clarity in documentation and communication.
• Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or other disabilities.
• Proficient in classroom management techniques to maintain an orderly environment conducive to learning.
• Knowledge of IEP development and implementation processes.
• Background in tutoring or providing individualized support in educational settings.
• Understanding of childhood development principles to guide instructional practices.
• Ability to create a supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages participation from all students.
• Experience in childcare settings is a plus, enhancing the understanding of student needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
