Reports To: Director of Special Education and School Principal
Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities to maximize their academic, social-emotional, and functional learning. The teacher develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitors student progress, and collaborates with staff and families to ensure an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Responsibilities

Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify student learning needs.

Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Provide specialized instruction and interventions aligned with IEP goals.

Implement behavior management and support plans as needed.

Track and document student progress and maintain required records.

Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and administrators to support student success.

Communicate regularly with families and encourage parent involvement.

Coordinate with outside agencies and service providers when appropriate.

Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development.

Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations.

Qualifications
Certification/Licensure

Valid State Certification as a Special Education Teacher.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related education field required.

Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
Experience

Prior experience teaching students with disabilities preferred.
