Highway Construction Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering construction or refurbishment projects within New Homes (NH) or Social Housing (SH) sectors. The role ensures that housing projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure designs meet housing standards and compliance requirements (Building Regs, H&S, sustainability, etc.).
2. Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
- Manage procurement, tendering, and contract administration.
- Track spend and control project variations.
3. Stakeholder Management
- Work with local authorities, housing associations, developers, and residents.
- Provide regular progress updates and reports to senior management.
- Engage communities during consultation and handover processes.
4. Risk, Compliance & Quality
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
- Ensure adherence to CDM Regulations and health & safety protocols.
- Manage quality assurance checks and site inspections.
5. Delivery & Handover
- Supervise construction progress and resolve onsite issues.
- Coordinate testing, inspections, and final snagging.
- Oversee practical and final completion, handover, and post-occupancy reviews.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and organisational skills
