High School History and Civics Teacher

Job Description:

The Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in history and civics to students. The teacher fosters critical thinking, civic awareness, and historical understanding while preparing students to be informed, responsible citizens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver effective lessons in history and civics aligned with ICSE curriculum.
• Develop assessments, projects, and examinations to evaluate student learning and progress
• Create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment that encourages discussion, inquiry, and debate
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, including primary sources, technology, and collaborative learning
• Differentiate instructions to meet the diverse learning needs of students
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance
• Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators
• Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History & Civics, Social Studies, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• Strong knowledge of historical content, civic principles, and government systems
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Ability to engage students in critical thinking and discussion

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Experience teaching at the high school level
• Ability to integrate technology into instruction
• Commitment to fostering civic responsibility and global awareness
