History Tutor/Teacher (K-12)

A Plus 1 Academy is seeking passionate and knowledgeable History Tutors/Teachers to join our dynamic team. Tutors work with students across all grade levels (K–12), helping them develop a strong understanding of world history and general social studies, as well as critical thinking and analytical skills.

This role is ideal for educators who are passionate about teaching, enjoy working with students of all ages, and are committed to engaging learners through diverse, interactive lessons. Tutors support students in making meaningful connections between historical content and the broader world while fostering academic confidence and curiosity.

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate history and social studies lessons aligned with grade-level curriculum standards.
• Teach students various methods of historical analysis, including evaluating sources, identifying bias, comparing perspectives, and constructing evidence-based arguments.
• Guide students through major historical topics, including world history, U.S. history, government, and economics, as appropriate to grade level.
• Encourage students to think critically about historical narratives and challenge dominant worldviews, while fostering respectful discussion and inquiry.
• Create a classroom environment that values and allows students to express diverse perspectives and interpretations.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and teaching methods to engage students across different ages, learning styles, and academic levels.
• Design and implement assessments in multiple formats (written work, projects, discussions, presentations, etc.) to gauge student understanding and learning.
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student growth in historical thinking and analytical skills.
• Help students make meaningful connections between historical events and the world around them, including modern-day issues and global contexts.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field from a reputable U.S. or U.K. university (required).
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience (preferred).
• Enthusiasm for and demonstrated ability to teach students across different age groups (K–12).
• Broad and strong knowledge of world history, with familiarity across multiple historical periods and regions.
• Ability to teach general social studies topics, including government, civics, or economics. (Preferred)
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in teaching historical writing, argumentation, and source analysis.
• Passion for history and the ability to inspire students to think critically about the past and its relevance to the present.
• Positive, patient, and professional demeanor with a genuine enthusiasm for working with students.
