Home Health Caregiver/Sitter

The Caregiver or Sitter shall:
1. Provide companionship for the client.
2. Provide escort service such as accompanying the client to doctors appointments.
3. Provide light housekeeping tasks such as preparation of a meal or laundering the
client’s personal garments.
4. Performs casual, cosmetic assistance, such as brushing the client’s hair, assisting
with make-up, filing and polishing nails, but not clipping nails.
5. Stabilize the client when walking, as needed, by holding the client’s arm or hand.
6. Maintain a chronological written record of services.
7. Report any unusual incidents or changes in the client’s behavior, condition or
circumstances to the case manager, immediately.
8. Spends time with or cares for an elderly, handicapped, or convalescent individual,
with companionship services, such as, playing games, cards, reading, watching
television, and accompanying trips and on outings.

Licensure: Must have current drivers license

Experience: At least one year experience, preferred

Skills: Must be able to read and write in English and follow written and verbal instruction in English effectively. Demonstrates interest in the welfare of ill and elderly. Proof of current CPR, and Hepatitis profile. Aide Competency Evaluation Skills Checklist and written Skills test.

Transportation: Reliable transportation. Valid and current auto liability insurance.

Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in patients' homes in various conditions, possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases; ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.

Physical and Mental Effort: Prolonged standing and walking required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move patients. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines, to identify patient needs, to make quick decisions and meet patient/family psycho-social needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to utilize durable medical equipment in the home.
