Home Study Caseworker

The mission of CPLC's Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is to promote the health, well-being, and stability of refugees, unaccompanied alien children, and other eligible individuals and families, through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based services. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

As a Home Study (HS) Case Worker, you will play a vital role in helping ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children and youth within immigrant and refugee communities.

You will conduct home studies and provide post-release services using trauma-informed care, child welfare practices, and professional case management. Through thoughtful assessment and collaboration, you will help determine safe placements for minors and connect families with essential community resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • BSW degree or an equivalent degree in behavior sciences or education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science equivalent
  • 1 year experience conducting home studies preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license, in good standing
  • Excellent clinical and crisis interventional skills
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, excellent organizational abilities
  • Excellent judgement
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Must possess strong computer skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, Teams
  • In-depth understanding of child welfare best practices, trauma informed care systems, and working within homes and communities
  • Must be knowledgeable about family preservation, kinship care, and/or general child welfare
  • Knowledge of local community social services
  • Specialized experience conducting home studies and working with immigrant populations, with clinical experience preferred
  • Prior experience with ORR HS/PRS preferred
