Horticulturist

PTWL is seeking a skilled Horticulturist to manage, maintain, and enhance the health and aesthetics of plants, trees, shrubs, and green spaces across landscaping projects. The role involves selecting suitable plant species, overseeing planting and maintenance, providing expert advice on plant care, and ensuring sustainable and visually appealing landscapes in line with project designs.

Key Responsibilities

Plant & Landscape Management

• Select, propagate, and maintain plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers suitable for the UAE climate
• Plan and implement planting schemes in alignment with landscape design concepts
• Monitor plant health, identify diseases or pest infestations, and implement corrective measures
• Supervise irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and soil management practices to ensure plant vitality
• Maintain lawns, green areas, and softscape elements to meet project quality standards

Project Support & Collaboration

• Work closely with landscape designers, project engineers, and site supervisors to implement planting plans
• Assist in the selection of plant species for hardscape, softscape, and specialized landscaping projects
• Provide technical guidance on plant care, growth optimization, and sustainable landscaping practices

Maintenance & Quality Control

• Conduct regular inspections of plants, trees, and green spaces to ensure healthy growth
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and pest control
• Ensure that landscaping projects are maintained according to company quality standards and client expectations

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of plant species, planting schedules, maintenance activities, and materials used
• Report plant health issues, maintenance needs, and progress updates to project managers
• Assist in preparing material take-offs, quantities, and cost estimates for horticultural elements

Client & Team Coordination

• Liaise with clients to provide expert advice on plant selection and maintenance
• Supervise horticultural staff, garden technicians, and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Landscape Architecture, or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in landscaping, horticulture, or nursery management
• Strong knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, and flowers suitable for arid climates
• Experience in pest and disease management, irrigation systems, fertilization, and pruning
• Ability to read and interpret landscape drawings and planting plans
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and team management skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality landscaping standards
• Valid UAE Driving License preferred
