We are Hiring: Hospital and Medical Director – Nauru Deployment
Location: Republic of Nauru (Full-time, On-site Deployment)
Sector: Healthcare Management / Hospital Administration
Contract: 6–12 months.

About the Role

We are seeking a results-driven and experienced Hospital and Medical Director to holds responsibility and oversight of medical services within the health facilities . He / She will oversee the clinical and hospital operations of our hospital facility in Nauru.

This is a leadership role that combines strategic direction, clinical excellence and hospital administrations operations, to ensure the highest standards of patient care and operational excellence, in a unique and challenging healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for hospital operations and bridge the gap between healthcare professionals, senior management or the Shareholders/ board.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to all medical staff and ensure patient safety and quality of care is upheld to the highest standards.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor medical policies, protocols, standards and clinical governance.
  • Collaborate with the management team on hospital operations and strategic planning.
  • Oversee daily management of clinical and non-clinical departments.
  • Manage personnel, resources, budgets, and supply chains effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Collaborate with medical leadership and government stakeholder.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and performance outcomes.
  • Support staff development and foster a positive, productive work environment.
  • Lead risk management and emergency preparedness planning.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of healthcare professionals.
  • Build a culture of respect, trust and professionalism among medical staff providers which is represented by fairness, integrity and non-discrimination
  • Ensure the ethical medical practice is always maintained and where necessary
  • take action when compromised.
  • Ensure compliance with Nauru’s healthcare regulations and international best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Medical Degree (MD/MBBS) with valid professional registration along with Masters’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Or Proven Experience in a similar leadership role)
  • Minimum 10 years of medical practice, with at least 6 years in a senior leadership role along with clinical governance and hospital operations and budget management.
  • Proven senior management experience in hospital or healthcare administration (e.g., CMO, Hospital Director)
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills along with strong knowledge of hospital operations, quality control, and accreditation standards
  • Experience working in remote, island, or resource-limited healthcare settings is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and challenging environment.
