Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense prescription medications to inpatients and outpatients accurately and efficiently.
- Review and interpret physician prescriptions to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
- Provide drug information and guidance to doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Monitor the effects of medications and ensure there are no harmful interactions or contraindications.
- Manage inventory of medications and pharmaceutical supplies, ensuring proper storage and stock levels.
- Participate in ward rounds, especially in specialty units (e.g., oncology, ICU, pediatrics), to provide pharmaceutical input.
- Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications, including IV mixtures and chemotherapy drugs, when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medication records.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, national regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication usage, side effects, and storage.
- Report and document adverse drug reactions or medication errors.
- Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development.
