Position: Hospital Steward
Department: Catering / Hospitality
Reporting To: Supervisor
Job Summary
The Hospital Steward supports food service operations within the hospital by assisting waitresses during meal service, handling food trolleys, and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in assigned areas. The steward works under the direct supervision of the Supervisor and follows all hospital safety and hygiene regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accompany the waitress during food service to patients and hospital staff.
- Push, handle, and manage food trolleys safely and efficiently.
- Assist in distributing meals as per instructions.
- Collect used trays, utensils, and waste after meal service.
- Perform cleaning and mopping of pantry, service areas, corridors, and assigned locations.
- Maintain cleanliness of trolleys, equipment, and service areas at all times.
- Follow hospital hygiene, food safety, and infection control procedures.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely according to guidelines.
- Ensure proper waste segregation and disposal as per hospital policy.
- Report any damage, safety hazards, or shortages to the Supervisor.
- Follow instructions given by the Supervisor at all times.
Safety & Hygiene Requirements
- Knowledge of basic food safety and personal hygiene standards.
- Awareness of hospital safety rules, including infection control practices.
- Proper use of PPE (gloves, masks, hairnets, etc.).
- Compliance with health, safety, and hospital regulations.
Reporting Structure
- The Hospital Steward reports directly to the Supervisor.
- Must coordinate closely with the waitress during meal service.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to KD225.000 per month
