Unit Overview


Cooper University Hospital is a 663 licensed bed facility that includes a cancer center, urgent care centers and 130 outpatient offices. It is South Jersey’s only Level 1 trauma center. Cooper is an academic medical center and offers teaching and direct care services. The nocturnist role will primarily consist of cross coverage on the floor and ICU. The nocturnist or swing shift attending will work alongside an APP.


Short Description


Cooper University Hospital is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician to work full-time with a blend of days and nights at our Cooper Camden and Inspira Locations. We are a practice of more than 150 physicians and APPs. Cooper University Healthcare is a leading academic health system in South Jersey that provides access to primary, specialty, tertiary and urgent care all within one health system. Cooper University Healthcare is also affiliated with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University that is in Camden, New Jersey.


The physician will provide the following services:

  • Complete all duties of attending physician as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws
  • Coordinate all specialty consultations and resource utilization
  • Admit patients to the service
  • Discharge patients in a timely manner
  • At time of discharge/transfer will complete Discharge Instructions and medication reconciliation
  • Dictate DC Summary at time of discharge and indicate copy to be sent to family doctor and all specialists following patient during stay
  • Participate in QI and RM and UM as reasonably requested
  • Respond to Hospital codes as Lead Physician as requested
  • Participate as a back-up member of Rapid Response Team when Cooper Intensivists are not scheduled to be on the Rapid Response Team
  • Complete Medical Records in a timely fashion
  • Adhere to Medical Staff Bylaws and Hospital Rules and Regulations and policies
  • Perform other life/limb saving procedures as may from time to time be necessary
  • Make best effort to ensure compliance with all Core Measure quality indicators for patients under their care
  • Perform the duties as mutually agreed
  • Participate in teaching of housestaff
  • Comply with the requirements of the voluntary teaching faculty
  • Respond to PRN calls for evaluation/orders

Education Requirements


Requires Medical degree. Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.


License/ Certification Requirements


New Jersey license will be required.
