JOB TITLE: Host/Hostess

LOCATION: Chotto Matte - San Francisco

Role Overview: 

As Host / Hostess, you will be the face of the restaurant – the first point and last point of contact for all of our guests. Your core responsibilities will include greeting guests upon arrival and ensuring that their introduction to the restaurant is welcoming, personable and tailored to meet their needs.

Other duties will include supporting the Head Host/Hostess and Reception Manager to monitor the reservations system in order to maximize bookings, ensure that you liaise with your colleagues with regards to any booking notes and ensure the reception area and cloakroom is clean and tidy at all times. Most importantly, you will need to meet our global service standards when it comes to welcoming our guests and following the reception steps of service to ensure first-class service from the first moment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To deliver and ensure the highest professionalism and service at all times. 
  • To set up for service by ensuring everything is set up for forecasted covers, special functions and all reservations.  
  • To consistently deliver Chotto Matte’s global Host/Hostess Steps of Service standards   
  • To support the Head Host/Hostess and the Reception Manager in arranging bookings for a manageable service.  
  • To support in the management Chotto Matte booking systems, including the booking notes 
  • To contact guests via telephone, email and booking platform in a courteous manner where requested by the Head Host/Hostess or Reception Manager  
  • To ensure great communication between departments in the restaurant, working together with the reception and wider team.   
  • To ensure that the reception area and cloakroom is kept clean and tidy at all times 
  • To adhere to company standards of service quality, preparation, and presentation.     
  • To ensure guests are served in a timely manner.     
  • To ensure readiness and makes priorities in case of last minute changes to reservations.     
  • To adhere to all health, sanitation and food safety rules and regulations.     
  • Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reported and reduced immediately.     
  • Ensure that employees work in a safe manner that does not harm or injure self or others.     
  • Anticipates possible and probable hazards and conditions and either corrects them or takes action to prevent them from happening.     
  • Keep the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, appropriate uniform, appearance, and conduct.        
  • To carry out any other duties as directed by seniors.     
  • To complete all necessary training and study the Employee handbook and Food/Beverage guides.  

Physical Demands:  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:     

  • Walk and stand.

  • Reach and grasp.     
  • Push and pull objects.     
  • Lift and/or move up to 15 lbs, sometimes over shoulder.     
  • Repetitive bending and lifting of items.     
  • Repetitive arm movements.

Required Experience: 

  • 1 years’ Reception experience in the premium hospitality sector.     
  • Excellent command of English language (Written and spoken).     
  • Ability to communicate with customers and peers with a friendly and positive attitude.     
  • Self-motivated, continuously seeking to succeed and progress in career within the company.     
  • Computer literate.   
  • Extremely flexible and committed.     
  • Lively, enthusiastic and confident.     
  • Ability to handle difficult situations successfully.     
  • Good organizational skills.
