Host

We are seeking a reliable and friendly Host to join our Black Duck Spirits & Hearth team! As a Host, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive atmosphere within our eclectic neighborhood restaurant. Your main responsibility will be to greet and seat customers while monitoring the reservations system, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.

Responsibilities

• Familiarize the evening's floor plan, make adjustments with seating arrangements as needed, communicate a rundown of covers and important notes with staff during pre shift
• Assist with setting the dining room up for service
• Warmly greet and welcome customers as they enter
• Accurately check in a reservation and escort guests to their assigned table and ensure they are comfortable
• Manage the waiting list, estimate wait times, and make arrangements for customers while they wait
• Answer phone calls, provide information, and make reservations or take-out orders as needed
• Collaborate with serving staff to ensure timely seating and smooth transitions between tables
• Keep inventory and organization of menus as well as maintaining knowledge of all menu items
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host/hostess station, as well as light housekeeping within the restaurant or occasional dining room maintenance
• Assist in setting up and closing duties, such as arranging tables, chairs, and menus
