Host/Hostess

Cody's Original Roadhouse

Job Description: Host/Hostess

Position Classification: Part-Time / Non-Exempt

Reports To: Manager on Duty

Position Summary:

The Host is the first and last impression our guests have—and we take that seriously! You’ll greet every guest with a warm smile, manage the flow of the dining room, and make sure every guest leaves happier than when they arrived. You’ll balance hospitality, organization, and a touch of southern charm to keep things running smoothly.

What You’ll Do:

  • Greet and welcome every guest with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Manage the seating rotation and guest waitlist to ensure an efficient flow of service.
  • Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and introduce their server by name.
  • Communicate clearly with servers, managers, and fellow hosts to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entry area.
  • Answer phones promptly and professionally, assist with reservations, and inform management of large parties or special requests.
  • Assist with guest needs—opening doors, providing high chairs, or offering directions to restrooms.
  • Perform routine restroom checks and guest counts as assigned.
  • Support the team by assisting with light service or side duties as needed.
  • Treat all applicants and visitors with the same courtesy as our guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring:

  • A friendly, outgoing personality and genuine love for hospitality.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and professional in a busy restaurant environment.
  • Basic math and organizational skills.
  • A team-player attitude with a focus on helping others succeed.
  • Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and move quickly for up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Lift and carry up to 35 lbs occasionally.
  • Bend, reach, and move throughout the dining area continuously.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with guests and team members.

Equal Employment Opportunity:

Cody's Original Roadhouse provides equal employment opportunities to all team members and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected status in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required. Management reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties and to make reasonable accommodations as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Cody’s Original Roadhouse is a throwback to the comfortable family eateries that grew up by the side of the road before the great highway expansion of the late 50s. You’ll enter an era gone by when things were simpler, more casual, and more relaxed. Stepping into Cody’s you’ll find a cozy, but lively family-friendly restaurant where guests will enjoy music and a menu influenced by the rich flavors of America’s heartland. You’ll start with buckets of peanuts for snackin’ and crackin’. Then, enjoy a range of filling meals such as fresh-cut (right on the premises) flame broiled USDA Choice Steaks, Slow Roasted Prime Rib of Beef, Baby Back Pork Ribs with Cody’s award-winning BBQ Sauce, fresh fish, Fajitas, and don’t forget our Bottomless salad and huge desserts. Cody’s also offers a full bar with cocktails, wines, and Ice-Cold Draft & Bottled Beers. You won’t go home hungry or broke - You’ll just go home happy. Since 1994
