Position Summary:
The Host/Hostess is the first and last point of contact for every guest, setting the tone for their entire dining experience. This role requires a professional, friendly, and highly organized individual who can manage guest flow, maintain a clean and welcoming entryway, and assist with general administrative duties. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with a positive attitude, dedicated to providing a warm and gracious welcome to everyone who walks through our doors.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Relations & Seating:
- Warmly greet all guests with a genuine smile and a professional demeanor upon their arrival.
- Manage the flow of the dining room by accurately assessing wait times and coordinating with servers and kitchen staff.
- Escort guests to their tables, presenting menus and providing a brief, polite welcome.
- Manage reservations and walk-ins using a reservation system, ensuring accurate seating and a smooth flow of service.
- Address guest inquiries and special requests, such as seating preferences or dietary needs, with patience and grace.
- Anticipate and resolve potential seating conflicts or wait-time issues with a calm and professional approach.
- Bid farewell to guests as they leave, thanking them for their patronage and inviting them to return.
Administrative & Operational Support:
- Answer the phone with a professional and welcoming tone, assist with reservations, takeout orders, and general inquiries.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the host stand, waiting area, and entryway.
- Assist with cleaning and preparing menus for each shift.
- Help with various tasks as needed, such as polishing silverware, folding napkins, or assisting bussers and servers during busy periods.
- Communicate effectively with all team members, including servers, management, and the kitchen, to ensure a seamless operation.
- Adhere to all restaurant policies and procedures, including health and safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a restaurant or customer-facing role is highly preferred.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A friendly, professional, and composed demeanor, especially during high-pressure situations.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- Proficiency with reservation software (e.g., Resy, OpenTable) is a plus.
- A strong work ethic and a proactive, "can-do" attitude.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.
