Host/Hostess

Mission is looking for a part time PM host at our [practically revolving] front door. This role would go beyond the typical hosting responsibilities of carrying menus and seating guests--the ideal candidate would be a hospitable presence throughout the dining room, ensuring a seamless experience from the moment they arrive, to the moment we see them off.

This schedule would include 2-3 PM shifts, Thursday, Friday & Saturday, and about 10-20 hours per week. This role involves more responsibilities related to setting up the restaurant, cleaning/organizing, handling take out orders/delivery drivers, and light support to the service staff on the floor. This is in tandem with the typical hosting responsibilities of greeting/seating guests, answering phones, and coordinating with the service staff and management.

Fair warning: Mission is a very busy restaurant. You will have to navigate a crowded room, talk to strangers, and answer a land line telephone. This job is about charm, hospitality, diffusion, leg sweeps, dance moves, and critical thinking. If you can manage all that with a smile on your face, drop that resume!

Responsibilities

• ALWAYS be smiling
• Act as a liaison between all Front of House departments
• Communicate with servers, bartenders, and managers to ensure a smooth flow of service
• Demonstrate accuracy when managing a busy door, a book of reservations, walk-ins, and managing a wait list
• Maintain knowledge of general FAQs for all incoming phone calls and queries
• Demonstrate understanding of all menus for take-out/delivery orders
• Assist the wait staff by bussing/setting tables when needed
• Inform restaurant staff about customers’ feedback or requests

Skills

• Experience as a Host, or similar role, in a restaurant/customer service setting
• Provides outstanding hospitality to guests
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to be charismatic under pressure
• Strong communication skills with co-workers and guests through personal, phone, and written interactions
• Physical ability and stamina to stand for 6-8 hours per shift
• Be able to multitask
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment

Schedule

We are open Tuesday - Saturday, & are looking for someone to work Thursday-Saturday evenings consistently . Shifts range from 4-6 hours. Friday and Saturday availability is essential.

Pay

Depending on experience, this position pays an hourly rate ranging between $16-$18 per hour.
