Position Summary
The Front Desk Agent is responsible for providing outstanding guest service while managing the check-in and check-out process. This role responds to guest inquiries, resolves concerns, and ensures a smooth and welcoming experience for every guest while following all company and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests and handle check-in and check-out procedures in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Process guest registrations and assign rooms while accommodating special requests whenever possible.
- Make and modify guest reservations using the hotel’s reservation systems and brand standards.
- Pre-register and block reservations, handle same-day bookings, and manage future reservations in accordance with hotel pricing strategies and policies.
- Handle payments, credit card transactions, and cash according to hotel procedures.
- Respond to guest questions and resolve concerns related to hotel services, events, directions, and local attractions.
- Cancel reservations according to hotel policies and procedures.
- Assist with guest relocations (“walks”) in a professional and courteous manner when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records and verify registration information for accuracy including payment type, rates, and guest details.
- Manage and inventory guest room keys according to hotel policy.
- Deliver guest invoices when working overnight shifts.
- Perform Night Audit functions when required or as directed by management.
- Provide support to other front office functions such as Bell Services, PBX operations, or reservations during busy periods.
- Assist other departments when needed, which may include:
- Breakfast setup or cleanup
- Basic property cleanliness (such as trash removal)
- Clerical tasks supporting sales, revenue, or marketing efforts
- Housekeeping or laundry assistance
- Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
QualificationsEducation
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Experience
Previous experience in a hotel front desk or hospitality role is preferred, but not required. Many skills are developed through on-the-job training.

Schedule Requirements
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays when required
- Must adhere to company time and attendance policies
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Physical Responsibilities
- Lifting and transporting front office supplies, linens, or property materials
- Assisting guests with luggage when needed
- Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching for supplies
- Continuous standing throughout the shift
- Walking guests to rooms, meeting spaces, or hotel areas when necessary
- Delivering supplies or documents to other departments
- Occasional use of stairs
Communication Requirements
- Ability to clearly communicate with guests, supervisors, and coworkers
- Ability to listen, understand, and respond to guest needs and instructions
