About the Role:

The Hotel Maintenance position is critical to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all hotel facilities and infrastructure. The primary goal of this role is to maintain a safe, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing environment for guests and staff by performing routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues before they escalate, thereby minimizing downtime and enhancing guest satisfaction. The maintenance professional will collaborate closely with other hotel departments to prioritize and address maintenance needs promptly. Ultimately, this role supports the hotel's reputation and operational excellence by ensuring all physical assets are in optimal condition.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in general maintenance, preferably in a hospitality or commercial environment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trades.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and hotel industry regulations.
  • Previous experience working in a hotel or hospitality setting.
  • Basic skills in carpentry and painting.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to reduce the likelihood of equipment failure and extend the lifespan of hotel assets.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
  • Collaborate with hotel management and other departments to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to guests.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and hotel policies during all maintenance operations.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ordering replacements as necessary.
  • Assist in overseeing external contractors and vendors when specialized repairs or services are required.

The required skills enable the maintenance professional to effectively diagnose and repair a wide range of facility issues, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations. Strong problem-solving and technical skills are essential for troubleshooting complex systems and performing preventative maintenance. Communication and collaboration skills are used daily to coordinate with hotel staff and external vendors, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and safely. Familiarity with safety standards and regulations helps maintain a secure environment for guests and employees. Preferred skills, such as certifications and experience with maintenance management software, enhance the ability to manage work orders and maintenance schedules systematically, improving overall operational efficiency.
