Overview:
Large Hotel in West Houston is looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our team!

Position Summary:
As a Hotel Maintenance Technician, you will use your experience to play a crucial role in performing routine and preventive maintenance, conduct repairs of hotel facilities and equipment throughout the hotel, as well as identify and repair common electrical problems.

This individual performs a variety of maintenance trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment, HVAC, Painting, wall repair, tile work and upkeep of the preventative maintenance program of the resort/hotel. You will be working closely with different members of our team, so you will need to have a sense of urgency when needed and an engaging attitude.

Additionally, you will set up electrical wiring and power needs per specifications for events, vendor exhibits and meeting spaces, working closely with guests and different department members of our team.

Scheduling:
This is a Full-Time position that requires open availability to work any day of the week, both AM and PM shifts, weekdays, weekends, and holidays - schedules will change weekly based on business demands.


Specifically, this role includes these primary responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, and mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and HVAC systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of all hotel equipment, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, plumbing, pool equipment and HVACs.
  • Installing, repair and maintaining all types of wiring (electrical, data, communication, etc.), and lighting/intercom systems.
  • Perform diagnostics on electrical components and/or controls of machinery or other commercial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues related to a variety of trades, including electrical systems, appliances, and HVAC systems.
  • Respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and provide room status updates to minimize disruptions to hotel operations
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations, following lock-out/tag out and other safety measures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the management.

Supportive Functions
: The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift to meet business demands. All associates are expected to perform any other duties as requested by management to support other departments and/or operational requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, hear, read, and comprehend instructions, both written and oral, in the English language.
  • Knowledgeable in all building maintenance trades, including plumbing, wall repair, carpentry, mechanical, HVAC, with advance knowledge of electrical components and systems.
  • Thorough knowledge and capable of using hand tools, voltage testers, multimeters, cutters and hotel equipment.
  • Knowledge of large commercial washer and dryer laundry equipment to repair basic functions, replace/install equipment, and perform scheduled preventive maintenance highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to effectively handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as they arise in a busy environment.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization.
  • Able to adapt to unexpected changes, making quick and effective decisions regarding maintenance and repairs in high-pressure situations with a sense of urgency.
  • Moves materials and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. regularly.
  • Capable of Working in dirty, dusty, or uncomfortable surroundings, including being exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and hazardous materials depending on the tasks performed.
  • Capable of remaining in a standing position, either stationary or walking, for duration of shift.
  • Ability to work in, on, around, over and under fixed equipment and machinery; including working from lifts, ladders, and scaffolding; to manipulate heavy equipment, tools and supplies and reach in all directions, regularly overhead.
  • Move through various areas of the hotel, including mechanical rooms, guest rooms, public areas, and outside areas, with frequent and repeated climbing up and down stairs and ladders, throughout duration of shift.
  • Capable of frequent and repeated lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, and extending arms fully.
  • Able to strictly observe and adhere to all safety regulations and standards, and that they are being followed throughout the hotel.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of (2) years of experience in facility/building maintenance, equipment and operations that includes all maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, and painting, preferably in a hotel.
  • Experience using basic hand and power tools.
  • Thorough safety knowledge, including advanced knowledge of OSHA protocols working with electrical equipment, including hazard identification and deenergize, proper use of PPE, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • (1) year of hands-on experience in electrical systems and knowledge of 208/220 volt circuits and changing fuses to high voltage equipment in electrical buckets is highly desired.


Professional Licenses/Certifications:

  • Relevant certifications in HVAC, electrical, or building maintenance preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in a related field preferred.
