Hotel Maintenance Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Engineer to support daily engineering operations at our dual-brand Holiday Inn & Candlewood Suites hotel in Roanoke, VA. This role is critical to maintaining guest satisfaction, asset preservation, and overall hotel safety through preventative maintenance, timely repairs, and proactive facility care.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment supporting both short-term and extended-stay guests.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, appliances, and general building systems
• Respond promptly to guest maintenance requests and service calls to ensure minimal disruption
• Conduct room inspections and address deficiencies prior to guest arrivals
• Support brand standards, safety compliance, and property appearance expectations
• Assist with life-safety systems including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and exit signage
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed
• Participate in snow removal, emergency response, and on-call rotations as required
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition

Qualifications

• Prior hotel maintenance or facilities experience preferred (hospitality experience strongly desired)
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance
• Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective repairs independently
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Professional demeanor with strong guest service skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks required for the role
• Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed
