Position Overview

The Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue through proactive sales efforts, relationship development, and strategic local outreach. This position focuses on increasing occupancy, growing local negotiated accounts, and building partnerships within the Nashville market.

The Sales Manager represents the Candlewood Suites brand with professionalism and enthusiasm, ensuring that the hotel maintains strong visibility and consistent growth in all key market segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new business opportunities in the extended-stay, government, and corporate segments.
  • Conduct outside sales calls and maintain a consistent presence within the community.
  • Develop and execute a weekly sales action plan that includes prospecting, follow-up, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Respond promptly to all leads, inquiries, and RFPs (within 24 hours).
  • Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales and revenue goals.

Community Engagement & Marketing

  • Attend and participate in local networking events, chamber meetings, and community gatherings.
  • Promote the hotel’s key features — full kitchens, laundry access, and extended-stay comfort — to prospective clients.
  • Partner with nearby businesses, hospitals, and contractors to establish long-term lodging relationships.
  • Assist with local marketing initiatives and on-property promotions to drive visibility.

Account & System Management

  • Maintain accurate account information and activity tracking in IHG systems (Concerto, MeetingBroker, etc.).
  • Submit weekly sales reports and activity summaries to the General Manager and Regional Director of Operations.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Revenue Management team to adjust strategies based on performance trends.
  • Coordinate group bookings and ensure smooth communication between departments.

Guest & Client Experience

  • Conduct site tours and coordinate visits with key accounts.
  • Ensure negotiated accounts receive consistent, high-quality service.
  • Follow up with all group and long-term clients post-stay to ensure satisfaction and retention.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of hotel sales experience preferred (extended-stay or select-service background ideal).
  • Strong knowledge of the North Nashville and surrounding market areas.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sales tracking software.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for outside sales calls.

Schedule & Expectations

  • Monday–Friday with flexibility for occasional networking or client events.
  • Typical hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, adjusted as needed for sales activities.
  • Conduct sales calls or prospecting activities (10–15 per week) from the office or in the field.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and adhere to company and IHG brand standards.

Performance Metrics

  • Achievement of monthly and quarterly sales and occupancy goals.
  • Growth of local negotiated accounts and overall market share.
  • Consistent lead response and client communication.
  • Visibility within the community and local business network.
  • Collaboration and teamwork with property management and operations staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
