Household Assistant / Housekeeper

Location: Grand Rapids Area

Position Overview

I am looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Household Assistant / Housekeeper to help maintain a well-organized and welcoming home. This role combines hands-on housekeeping with light household management responsibilities. The ideal candidate is proactive, trustworthy, and comfortable managing a variety of household tasks independently.

Responsibilities may include housekeeping, errands, pet care, and occasional overnight house sitting when I travel.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping

- Clean and maintain all areas of the home including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, and common spaces

- Dust, vacuum, mop floors, and maintain surfaces

- Change linens and make beds

- Laundry for clothing, linens, and towels

- Maintain organization of closets, storage areas, and household spaces

Household Management

- Grocery shopping and stocking pantry and household supplies

- Manage household inventory such as cleaning supplies and paper goods

- Coordinate service providers and routine home maintenance

- Receive deliveries and assist with occasional errands

- Assist with light meal preparation or kitchen organization when needed

Pet Care & House Sitting

- Care for household dog(s), including feeding and walks

- Provide occasional overnight house sitting when I travel

Vehicle Care

- Take household vehicles to the car wash

- Ensure vehicles are fueled and ready for use

Qualifications

- Prior housekeeping, hospitality, or household management experience preferred

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

- Comfortable caring for dogs

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

- High level of discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness

- Willingness to obtain a household employee bond (or already bonded)

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and reach up to 6 feet

- Ability to stand for extended periods of time

- Ability to climb stairs regularly

- Ability to stoop, bend, and kneel as needed

- Ability to use a small step stool or household ladder for cleaning tasks

- Ability to push and pull cleaning equipment

Nice to Have

- A love of gardening or interest in helping maintain outdoor spaces and plants

- Experience working in private homes or household management roles

Compensation & Schedule

Compensation: $22–$30 per hour depending on experience

Estimated Schedule: Approximately 12–20 hours per week, with occasional flexibility for errands or overnight house sitting when I travel.
