Location: Bethesda, MD 20817

Employment Type: Part-time (12-15 hours per week)

Schedule: 3-4 days per week, during the hours from 1:30pm - 6:30pm, with flexibility earlier or later as needed

Compensation: $30-$35 per hour based on experience

Start Date: August 27, 2026

Requirements

  • Reliable, personal transportation with a clean driving record
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment
  • Comfortable around animals (we have a medium-sized energetic dog)
  • CPR and First Aid certified preferred
  • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis A/B, COVID-19, and annual influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

About Our Family

We are a busy, working family of three based in a walkable, quiet neighborhood in Bethesda, MD. Both parents work full-time in-office roles, which means our afternoons and evenings can stretch thin without the right support. We have an energetic, spirited dog who loves people and is a true member of the family.

Our child is heading into middle school this fall and is an active kid with a packed schedule that includes soccer practice during the week. We run a warm, organized household and are looking for someone who can step in, take ownership of the afternoon routine, and help us feel more on top of things and keep everything running smoothly for our family. We value reliability, competence, warmth, and someone who genuinely enjoys being around kids and animals.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are a reliable, warm, and proactive professional who thrives in a household setting and genuinely enjoys supporting a busy family. You are comfortable working independently, managing your time well, and stepping into our afternoon routine without needing constant direction. You have a natural ease around pre-teens and understand how to engage with a kid who is growing into their independence - knowing when to encourage and when to step back. You are a true dog lover who won't be fazed by an enthusiastic, jumpy pup.

You are organized, flexible, and adaptable - a schedule that shifts week to week doesn't throw you off, it suits you. You take pride in keeping a home running smoothly and bring a calm, steady energy to the household. You have excellent time-management skills and are adept at naturally anticipating needs. Overall, you are a warm, friendly individual who loves working with families and pride yourself on creating an environment where the family feels genuinely supported and cared for.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Be present and available when the our son returns home from school (around 3 PM)
  • Assist with homework and other school assignments
  • Manage drop-offs to soccer practice twice weekly (approximately 15-20 minutes away)
  • Assist with sports bag and equipment preparation, as needed

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Family calendar management and support
  • Assist with coordination of family events and after school sports

Household Management & Organization

  • Light daily tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas)
  • Help maintain household organization systems
  • Coordinate and schedule existing cleaning service on a more consistent basis

Meal Planning & Prep

  • Prepare healthy, family friendly meals 3-5 times per week
  • Meal prep including chopping, marinating, and batch preparation
  • Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Wash, dry, and fold laundry
  • Bring baskets of clean laundry to individual rooms (family will put away)
  • Keep laundry area tidy and well stocked
  • Light bed straightening as needed (cleaning service handles linen rotation)

Pet Care

  • Walk the dog during your shift for 20-25 minutes in the neighborhood
