Job Description
Position Objective
Responsible for the professional cleaning and maintenance of Bryn Mawr College buildings. All duties must be performed using prescribed methods and procedures while strictly adhering to established safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance: Residence Halls, Administrative & Academic Buildings
Maintain high standards of cleanliness across common areas, offices, classrooms, labs, and specialized spaces.

Surface Care: Dust, wash, and polish furniture, upholstery, woodwork, windowsills, door frames, vents, and baseboards.

Floor Care: Sweep, dust mop, damp/wet mop, and vacuum all floor types; spot clean carpets as needed.

Glass & Fixtures: Clean windows, glass door inserts, mirrors, lamps, and telephones.

Education Spaces: Clean chalkboards/whiteboards, replenish chalk, and maintain erasers.
Sanitation: Restrooms, Kitchens, & Laundries
Ensure hygiene and functionality in high-traffic utility and sanitary areas.

Restrooms: Deep clean sinks, fixtures, toilets, stalls, and tile work; scrub tubs/showers and replace curtains; replenish paper supplies and soap.

Kitchens/Pantries: Clean and sanitize cabinets, counters, sinks, refrigerators, and microwaves.

Laundry Rooms: Clean washers, dryers, sinks, and counters.

Waste Management: Regularly empty and sanitized wastebaskets.
Specialized Services & Seasonal Tasks
Execute heavy-duty maintenance and support campus transitions.

Floor Restoration: Extract carpets, strip/refinish, and burnish floors.

Summer Programs: Prepare guest rooms by making beds, folding linens, and moving furniture.

External Maintenance: Dispose of outdoor litter and remove snow/ice from building perimeters.

General Support: Change light bulbs, move furniture, and drive college vehicles for job-related duties.
Skills And Qualifications

Follows established routines under daily review; reports substandard conditions to supervisors.

Must handle oral/written instructions and maintain strict key and radio control.

Requires professional, courteous interaction with students, staff, and faculty.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand/walk/bend for extended periods in various temperatures.

Working knowledge of cleaning chemical safety, storage, and application.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; good manual dexterity, vision, and hearing.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
