Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department. This includes ensuring cleanliness standards are met, supervising housekeeping staff, managing inventory, and providing exceptional service to guests or residents. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of housekeeping staff (room attendants, public area cleaners, laundry staff, etc.).
• Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
• Train, mentor, and monitor performance of housekeeping team members.
• Assign duties and create schedules for staff.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; place orders when needed.
• Handle guest complaints or requests in a prompt and professional manner.
• Conduct daily briefings and communicate job expectations clearly.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
• Assist in hiring and onboarding of new housekeeping employees.
• Monitor and ensure adherence to budget and cost control procedures.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a housekeeping role, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Familiarity with housekeeping equipment and safety standards.
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs.
• Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.

Work Environment:

• Hotel, resort, healthcare facility, or residential setting depending on the organization.
• Fast-paced and requires attention to detail and multitasking.
