Housekeeping Supervisor

The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the overall cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the community, including resident rooms, common areas, laundry operations, and housekeeping staff. This role ensures compliance with regulations, safety protocols, and internal facility standards.

Supervision & Leadership

  • Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff, ensuring all areas meet facility and DOH standards.
  • Create and manage daily/weekly housekeeping schedules and assignments.
  • Conduct onthejob training and periodic staff meetings; participate in inservice education.
  • Inspect resident rooms and facility spaces for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure cleaning, sanitation, and laundry procedures comply with DOH, fire safety, and building code regulations.
  • Oversee safe handling of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
  • Coordinate and track work orders and follow up with maintenance teams.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Resident Experience

  • Maintain a clean, comfortable, and respectful environment for residents.
  • Communicate professionally with residents, families, and visitors.
  • Support resident rights, confidentiality, and dignity always.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of housekeeping or custodial experience, with at least 1 year supervisory experience in a healthcare or assisted living setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift 30–50 lbs, stand/walk for prolonged periods, and perform physical cleaning tasks.
  • Knowledge of institutional cleaning methods, materials, floor care, and sanitation practices.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and customer service skills.
  • Previous experience in an assisted living or longterm care environment.
  • Experience with DOH regulatory requirements and safety protocols.

Work Environment

  • Work performed throughout the facility including resident rooms, common areas, and laundry spaces.
  • May involve exposure to cleaning chemicals, odors, and body fluids.
  • Requires availability to work weekends or holidays as needed.
