Housekeeping Supervisor

Opera system knowledge

Core operations

  • Plan daily boards/assignments; open/close the department; manage shift briefings and handovers.
  • Monitor productivity (rooms/attendant, task timing); redeploy staff to meet check‑in targets and rush/VIP rooms.
  • Conduct room/public area inspections; coach on corrective actions; enforce SOPs/brand standards.
  • Coordinate with Front Office and Engineering on room status, OOO/PM rooms, and quick turns.

Team leadership

  • Assist with hiring; onboard and train attendants; conduct refreshers (chemicals, equipment, floor care).
  • Build schedules/rota, approve timecards, manage attendance and breaks; address performance/discipline.
  • Lead safety talks; model service culture and confidentiality.

Quality, safety, compliance

  • Enforce chemical handling, PPE, and MSDS/OSHA (or local) compliance; run accident/incident reporting.
  • Maintain key control, Lost & Found logs, biohazard protocols, and emergency procedures.
  • Drive sustainability: waste segregation, recycling, and chemical/water use controls.

Inventory, linen, and assets

  • Maintain par levels for linens/amenities/chemicals; order/receive; track costs and variances.
  • Oversee linen flow, rejects, and loss rates; coordinate with on‑site or outsourced laundry.
  • Ensure equipment readiness (vacuums, extractors) and request maintenance via CMMS.

Guest service and standards

  • Handle guest requests/complaints; execute service recovery and follow‑ups.
  • Prepare VIP setups, special requests, and event/turn-down requirements.

Vendors and projects

  • Oversee contractors (outsourced cleaning, laundry, pest control); QA against SLAs; verify invoices.
  • Plan and execute deep cleans, carpet/upholstery care, high‑dusting, and floor maintenance schedules.

Reporting and systems

  • Use PMS/housekeeping app/CMMS to update room status, log tasks, and raise work orders.
  • Produce shift reports: inspection scores, rooms cleaned, rush/VIP handled, labor hours, incidents.

Typical KPIs

  • Cleanliness inspection score ≥ target; guest cleanliness score and complaints/1,000 rooms.
  • Rooms ready by check‑in time %; rooms per attendant per shift; rework rate.
  • Labor cost vs. budget; amenity/chemical spend; linen loss/reject rate.

Common requirements

  • 2–4 years housekeeping with 1+ in supervision; SOP and chemical knowledge; PMS/housekeeping app proficiency; flexible shifts; ability to lift 30–40 lbs.
