Housekeeping Supervisor - Female

Job Summary

The Housekeeping Supervisor will oversee the daily cleaning and presentation of a private household, ensuring all areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, order and confidentiality. This role coordinates a small team of housekeeping staff, plans schedules, inspects work, and supports the household in delivering a welcoming, hygienic and well‑organised environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, train and mentor housekeeping staff, allocating duties, monitoring performance and providing coaching to maintain consistent standards.

  • Plan and coordinate daily, weekly and deep‑clean schedules for all rooms and public areas, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to specification.

  • Conduct regular inspections of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, living areas and service zones to ensure cleanliness, presentation and adherence to hygiene protocols.

  • Manage laundry operations including collection, washing, ironing, folding and storage of linens and clothing, ensuring care instructions are followed and items are returned promptly.

  • Maintain inventories of cleaning supplies, linens and amenities; order or request replenishment when stock levels are low and ensure safe storage and usage of cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH guidance.

  • Ensure appropriate handling, storage and reporting of lost property and delicate or high‑value items, exercising discretion and respect for the family’s privacy.

  • Liaise with other household staff, external contractors and management to coordinate maintenance, special projects and event preparations as required.

  • Report maintenance issues, damage or health and safety concerns promptly and assist with basic remedial actions where instructed.

  • Ensure waste is segregated and disposed of correctly, supporting recycling practices and following household procedures for hazardous or bulky waste.

  • Occasionally undertake hands‑on housekeeping tasks to support the team during peak periods or absences.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or senior housekeeping experience within private households, hospitality or similar environments.

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks and manage a small team effectively.

  • Discretion, confidentiality and a professional demeanour when working in a private household setting.

  • Good communication skills, reliability and the ability to follow direction while using initiative to resolve everyday issues.

  • Flexible approach to working hours including the willingness to cover early mornings, evenings or occasional weekends when required.

  • Physically able to perform duties which may include standing, bending and lifting moderate loads for extended periods.
