General Summary:
Under general supervision performs a variety of unskilled manual labor tasks designed to maintain the cleanliness and safe conditions of the Belmont County offices and buildings; may act as night security; other duties as required. In addition, may be required to drive to other County facilities, work in the Mailroom, and lock/unlock County facilities.
Essential Duties:
1. Performs general custodial duties in the offices and buildings of Belmont County – 80%
- Custodial cleaning and maintenance of assigned building and all rooms, baths, offices, halls, doors, and auxiliary areas. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, polishes and buffs floor surfaces and stairwells. Vacuums rugs and carpeting. Operates floor cleaning and polishing equipment. Cleans equipment after use and perform maintenance as required.
- Cleans windows. Cleans and dusts chairs, tables, counters, pictures, clocks and other fixtures/furniture. Cleans and empty trash receptacles.
- Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and maintains adequate supply of hand towels, toilet tissues, and feminine hygiene supplies. Cleans sinks, glass and mirrors, etc. Visually inspects areas for cleanliness.
- May change light bulbs in offices.
- May be required to drive to multiple County facilities to perform various custodial tasks. May have to fill-in in the Mailroom. May have to lock/unlock County facilities.
2. Other Custodial Tasks – 15%
- Shampoos rugs and carpets. Washes walls and woodwork. Loads and/or unloads trucks. Delivery of same to proper locations.
- Assists in grounds maintenance and operation of related equipment (trash pickup, snow removal, spreading salt, mowing grass, etc.).
- Assists in transporting of chairs and tables for various meetings. May raise and lower U.S. flag as requested.
3. Other Tasks – 5% of time spent

Typical Tools and Equipment Utilized:
- Typically will use, but not limited to, a variety of tools to perform general custodial duties (i.e., scrubber, rug shampoo, vacuum cleaner, floor polisher/stripper, mops, buckets, etc.) ice and/or snow removal equipment (i.e., shovels, snow blowers, salt spreader, etc.). Will utilize chemical dispensing centers.

Physical Requirement:
Ability to physically perform manual labor in varying weather conditions. Seeing, extensive walking, sitting and standing, talking, using hands to signal, hand or feel, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms constantly, smelling. Also the ability to lift or move heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

- Unskilled labor. Ability to perform manual labor.
