We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and independent HR Compliance Consultant to support HR compliance operations during a maternity leave period. This position requires strong experience in I-9 processing, work authorization management, HR compliance, and Workday. The ideal candidate is an HR generalist with proven compliance background who can work efficiently in a fast-paced, remote environment.

The consultant will primarily handle transactional compliance tasks, including gathering information, updating documentation, responding to inquiries, and supporting internal audit requests. A high level of confidentiality, customer service, and responsiveness is critical, as the role interacts with employees, HR teams, managers, and external parties.

This position is fully remote and can be based in any U.S. time zone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply HR compliance knowledge to support HR operations and ensure adherence to employment regulations.
  • Manage end-to-end I-9 processing, reverifications, corrections, and work authorization tracking.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for U.S. employment authorization and escalation support.
  • Gather required documents and information for internal and external audit activities.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, including training logs, audit documentation, and communication records.
  • Prepare compliance reports summarizing findings, trends, and recommended improvements.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Legal, and other HR functions to support onboarding and compliance workflows.
  • Identify process gaps and propose solutions to increase efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Respond to HR compliance inquiries from employees, managers, and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform additional HR compliance duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years of relevant HR experience.
  • MUST have hands-on I-9 processing and work authorization experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Workday (required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage confidential information.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Experience supporting USCIS, employment authorization processes, or FCRA-related compliance work.
  • Exposure to global or international HR processes.
  • Experience using ServiceNow.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail with accuracy in data and documentation.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with interest in streamlining processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Self-starter mindset; demonstrates initiative and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $45.00 - $52.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
