Job Description


Looking to ace your upcoming academic year? As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you’ll work on real projects, be part of our collaborative culture, and get the support you need to grow - across two full semesters. Our Internship Program is all about impact, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building skills that matter. Academic Year Internship Program Details

Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need. We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.

Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Universal City, CA.

Academic Year Recruitment Timeline

Operations & Technology is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.

Universal Television Entertainment is responsible for world-class television entertainment. The division programs and markets content across leading entertainment brands Bravo, NBC and Peacock, and produces over 3,000 hours of television annually through Universal Studio Group, the studio business comprised of Universal Television, UCP, Universal International Studios and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

Universal Film consists of the operations to produce, acquire, market and distribute filmed entertainment worldwide in various media formats for theatrical, home entertainment, television and other distribution platforms. The division operates globally with colleagues spread across 20 countries. We pride ourselves in supporting and amplifying diverse stories told by unique voices. Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

  • Operations & Technology HR: The O&T HR team supports the West Coast Studio Operations business at NBCU with a rich history in Film & TV as well as industry-leading production and post-production facilities and services, broadcast operations, studio property management, employee amenity services, special events, and marketing. In this role, you will have exposure to HR projects that span: onboarding, rewards and recognition, performance feedback, talent attraction and development, and HR’s business impact. In the day-to-day, you will help solve problems involving: Benefits, Payroll, Compensation, HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Finance and Data Analytics.
  • TV Programming – Inclusion: NBCU LAUNCH is the umbrella brand that houses the comprehensive inclusion efforts across NBCUniversal’s entertainment television portfolio in support of the company’s goal to produce authentic and compelling content. These efforts span across writers, directors, unscripted producers, casting, and below-the-line crew members who work in scripted, unscripted, and late-night programming. Interns will work closely with the Executive Assistants and Coordinators to write script coverage of materials from current and alumni talent; draft summaries and provide analysis; work with the team in creating and posting social media on a weekly basis; discover NBCUniversal content, write copy, and design the social media strategy for posts across different platforms; design, develop, and contribute to the monthly internal report out, as well as other tasks.
  • Universal Entertainment HR: The Talent Operations team supports the entire Universal Entertainment Group, spanning Film, Television, and Entertainment. The department partners closely with HR leadership, HR Business Partners, and the People Experience team to deliver workforce insights, reporting, and operational support across a large, matrixed organization. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to enterprise‑level HR work in a creative studio environment. Interns won’t just observe, they’ll actively contribute to real, high‑impact projects across workforce analytics, reporting, and HR operations that help inform decision‑making across Film, TV, and Entertainment. You’ll gain visibility into how HR operates at scale while building practical skills in data analysis, project management, and cross‑functional collaboration. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone curious about the intersection of people strategy, data, and entertainment.

Qualifications


Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2026 through April 2027). December 2026 graduates are not eligible for this Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027.
  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Interest in the HR field, corporate communications and culture, and/or employee engagement.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to self-start and streamline.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with professional communication at all levels.
  • Well-organized with strong time management & multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders & balance numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP a plus.
  • TV Programming, Inclusion: Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills; Social media savvy and awareness of latest global trends; Script coverage experience preferred, but not required; Proficient in Adobe Photoshop preferred, but not required; Film/TV/Media majors preferred, but not required.

The hourly rate for student interns in HR internships is $19.00.
