This includes creating job descriptions, posting advertisements, screening and interviewing candidates, conducting background and reference checks, and managing the onboarding process for new employees.
- Employee relations: Serve as a point of contact for staff grievances, demands, and conflicts, acting as a mediator to resolve disputes fairly and consistently. The manager also fosters a positive school culture by promoting collaboration and respect among staff.
- Performance management: Administer and oversee the performance appraisal system for all staff. This involves setting clear performance goals, coordinating regular evaluations, providing constructive feedback, and implementing performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Compensation and benefits: Manage compensation structures and employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, leave entitlements, and retirement plans. They also ensure that payroll is processed accurately and on time.
- Training and development: Identify training needs for staff and organize professional development opportunities, including workshops and training sessions. This supports career growth and ensures that all employees are up-to-date on skills and school policies.
- Policy and compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce school policies and procedures that align with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and educational regulations. They are also responsible for maintaining accurate employee records and handling documentation related to HR functions.
- Employee welfare and safety: Take an active role in creating a safe and healthy working environment for all staff. This includes ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and addressing any safety concerns raised by employees.
- Strategic planning: Work with school leadership to align HR strategies with the institution's overall goals, contributing to workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
