HR Generalist 1 - HR Operations

Part of the Barton Malow Family of Companies, Barton Malow Company acts as a union contractor leveraging an integrated, self-perform approach that includes civil, concrete, steel, equipment installation, general trades, refractory, and boilermaker work. Our team is comprised of more than 2,000 team members and builds projects primarily in the automotive, energy and industrial markets throughout North America.

Position Summary:

Responsible for supporting the HR Operations team by playing a key role in talent mobility, employee engagement, and employee relations in addition to providing general HR services to our team members. This entry-level role will assist with maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring a positive team member experience.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in evaluating and refining HR programs to ensure best-in-class practices.

• Assist with and supports employee relations processes

• Partner with stakeholders to promote HR initiatives and share success stories.

• Provide administrative support for HR processes and documentation.

• Facilitate Onboarding Check-In (7-day meeting) to ensure new hires are transitioning smoothly and feel supported.

• Contribute to WeStaff assignments and manage employee roll-off reports.

• Support new subsistence requests by coordinating with necessary departments for approval.

• Handle specific voluntary resignation exit interviews.

Work Environment/Job Conditions:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, or related discipline required.

Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in an HR Generalist capacity.

Construction, Engineering, Automotive or other relevant industry HR experience preferred.

Occasional short-term travel to other offices and events required, roughly 10%.
