HR Generalist/ Executive Assistant


Creature is an integrated design-build firm based in Birmingham, AL. Our focus is on developing a differentiated delivery platform that improves the lives of our employees and customers. We are focused on the delivery of facilities utilizing the Design, Manufacture, Construct (DMC) methodology. DMC replaces the century-old, siloed approach of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Industry. A major component of our platform is our in-house Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing trades.


Job Description

Creature is looking for an HR Generalist/ Executive Assistant who is passionate about maintaining a strong company culture, managing benefits, tracking talent development, and ensuring compliance with HR best practices. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and people-focused leader who can support recruiting, benefits administration, employee development, performance management, and HR operations. This role is essential in helping Creature attract top talent, foster employee growth, and create a workplace where people thrive.

In addition to the HR duties, this role will be responsible for managing the calendar and travel for the COO. This portion of the role could grow and will require solid communication skills to ensure clarity of expectations.


Role Expectations:

  • Develop and refine job descriptions for new and existing roles.
  • Manage the benefits for the company ensuring employees are supported in their elections, plans are audited, and billing is reconciled monthly.
  • Oversee onboarding, ensuring new hires integrate smoothly into the team and company culture.
  • Implement and maintain training programs to upskill employees and enhance leadership capabilities.
  • Assist in structuring and refining the company’s performance review process.
  • Support conflict resolution and employee relations by providing guidance and mediation when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, workplace policies, and HR best practices.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
  • Oversee benefits administration and assist employees with HR-related concerns.
  • Foster a positive work environment through engagement initiatives and company-wide communication.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in human resources, talent management, or organizational development.
  • Strong understanding of benefits requirements and an ability to explain it to others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Ability to manage multiple HR functions while maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Experience with HR software, applicant tracking systems, and compliance regulations.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
