Head – Human Resources (HR Head) for Real Estate & Construction based company

Department: Human Resources
Reporting To: Managing Director / CEO
Location: Madhavaram , Chennai

Job Purpose

The HR Head will lead and manage all human resource functions for corporate office and construction/project sites. The role focuses on strategic HR leadership, statutory compliance, manpower planning, performance management, employee relations, and building a disciplined, performance-driven culture aligned with real estate and construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic HR Leadership

  • Develop and implement HR strategy aligned with business growth, project timelines, and organizational goals
  • Act as a strategic advisor to top management on people, culture, and organizational development
  • Establish HR governance, policies, and best practices across all locations

2. Manpower Planning & Recruitment

  • Prepare annual and project-wise manpower plans
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for corporate, sales, engineering, planning, QS, billing, site, and support roles
  • Manage recruitment agencies, contractors, and internal hiring teams
  • Ensure timely mobilization of site manpower

3. HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle

  • Oversee onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exits
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of employee records, personnel files, and HRMS
  • Standardize HR processes across HO and project sites

4. Performance Management (KRA & KPI)

  • Design and implement KRA & KPI frameworks for all functions
  • Drive performance appraisal cycles and productivity reviews
  • Support department heads in performance improvement plans

5. Compensation, Payroll & Benefits

  • Design competitive salary structures aligned with industry benchmarks
  • Ensure timely payroll processing and statutory deductions
  • Manage incentives, commissions, bonuses, insurance, gratuity, and leave policies

6. Statutory Compliance & Labour Laws

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws:
  • PF, ESI, PT, LWF
  • Shops & Establishments Act
  • Minimum Wages Act, Bonus Act, Gratuity Act
  • Handle inspections, audits, legal notices, and labour authority interactions
  • Manage contract labour compliance at project sites

7. Employee Relations

  • Handle grievances, disciplinary actions, domestic enquiries, and terminations
  • Maintain harmonious industrial relations at sites and corporate offices
  • Address union or workforce issues proactively

8. Learning & Development

  • Identify training needs for technical, safety, leadership, and behavioral skills
  • Drive induction, site safety, compliance, and soft-skills training
  • Support leadership development and succession planning

9. Culture Building & Employee Engagement

  • Drive employee engagement initiatives and communication programs
  • Build a performance-oriented, ethical, and compliance-driven culture
  • Support change management and organizational development initiatives

10. Policy, SOP & Governance

  • Draft, implement, and periodically update HR policies and SOPs
  • Ensure policy communication and adherence across all levels
  • Support internal audits, ISO requirements, and corporate governance

11. HR MIS & Reporting

  • Prepare HR dashboards and MIS for management
  • Track attrition, recruitment status, compliance, headcount, and HR costs
  • Provide insights for decision-making

Qualifications & Experience

  • MBA / MSW / PGDM in Human Resources
  • 12–20 years of HR experience, preferably in Real Estate / Construction / Infrastructure
  • Experience handling large site manpower and multi-location operations
