Human Resources Specialist

Home Care & Assisted Living

Position Summary

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for managing daily HR operations for our Home Care and Assisted Living services. This role supports recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and retention initiatives to ensure high-quality staffing and regulatory compliance.

Our number one goal is client safety, and this role plays a critical part in ensuring we hire, train, and retain qualified, compassionate caregivers and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies for caregivers, nurses, and support staff
  • Post job openings and screen candidates
  • Conduct interviews and coordinate hiring decisions
  • Ensure timely hiring to maintain staffing ratios and client coverage
  • Monitor turnover rates and implement retention strategies

Onboarding & Training

  • Coordinate new hire orientation
  • Ensure completion of background checks, OIG exclusions, and required screenings
  • Verify licenses and certifications
  • Track training requirements and annual competencies
  • Maintain employee files in compliance with state and federal regulations

Compliance & Regulations

  • Ensure compliance with state Home Care and Assisted Living licensing requirements
  • Maintain HR documentation for audits and surveys
  • Support compliance with labor laws, OSHA, and wage/hour regulations
  • Monitor mandatory continuing education requirements

Employee Relations

  • Address employee concerns and workplace conflicts
  • Support disciplinary processes and documentation
  • Assist managers with performance improvement plans
  • Promote a positive, collaborative team culture

Performance Management

  • Coordinate annual evaluations
  • Track employee KPIs (attendance, punctuality, client satisfaction, documentation accuracy)
  • Support leadership with workforce planning

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee records
  • Assist with payroll coordination
  • Monitor PTO, attendance, and scheduling compliance
  • Prepare HR reports for leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • 2+ years HR experience (healthcare preferred)
  • Knowledge of Home Care or Assisted Living regulations (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with high-volume caregiver recruiting
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
