HR/Payroll Specialist (BLANK AST 3)

Under general direction, independently act as key contact for clients by providing daily support and performing a variety of personnel and payroll transactions. Manage employee information, personnel, payroll and salary actions, staff recruitment, position management, and special projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/ training.
• Experience in the use of payroll and human resources/personnel systems and processes and with human resources processes and issues.
• Experience with the principles, practices, and trends of personnel management; including, but not limited to, State and Federal Labor Laws and interpreting complex policies, procedures and practices.
• Experience using software such as Word, Excel, e-mail, calendar, and other computer programs to produce documents, forms, reports, and spreadsheets.
• Experience working in a high-volume customer service driven environment and communication skills to develop written procedures, memos, etc., and convey to a diverse audience."
• Analytical and computational skills necessary to calculate percentages when calculating payroll, leave, etc.
• Skills to extract, manipulate, and interpret data from electronic databases and produce documents, forms, reports and spreadsheets.
• Analytical skills to exercise independent judgment in problem solving, remaining objective, and representing differing points of view. forms, reports and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with, and interpreting, labor contracts, compensation and classification plans and personnel programs/policies.
• Knowledge of UC Path or PeopleSoft, TRS , and EcoTime.
• Organizational skills to achieve timely progress on multiple simultaneous complex projects, distribute effort appropriately among the projects, meet tight deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy.
• Knowledge of the University’s personnel policies and procedures.

Department Overview

The Academic Units Shared Service Center (AUSS-C) is a collaborative effort between academic colleges and schools at UC Davis to centralize a set of transactional processes and consultative services in preparation for UC Path. AUSS-C expertly performs human resources, payroll, and personnel transactions in service of these academic units. AUSS-C will be the focal point for UC Path transactions for its academic units. The goal of a joint shared services center is to provide the best service for the academic units to ensure high quality and timely service as UC Path evolves to become the primary program for payroll, benefits, human resources and academic personnel administration at UC Davis. AUSS-C is under the governance of the Assistant Deans of participating partners.

Work Environment
