Key Project Requirements:
- Extensive hands-on experience with HRSG installation, piping, and structural assembly on combined-cycle power projects.
- Proven ability to oversee HRSG modules, drums, casing, structural steel, and piping installation through hydro testing and system readiness.
- Experience reviewing and executing heavy lift plans, welding/NDT activities, and field installation procedures.
- Demonstrated involvement in hydro testing, piping flushes, chemical cleaning, and steam/air blows.
- Ability to drive HRSG readiness through final audit and support gas turbine first fire activities.
Job Summary:
NAES is seeking an experienced HRSG Field Engineer to support a combined-cycle power project in Homer City, PA. This role is responsible for overseeing HRSG installation and pre-commissioning activities, ensuring all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and OEM requirements. The HRSG Field Engineer will serve as a key technical resource on site, supporting subcontractors, coordinating with the HRSG vendor, and ensuring system completion and readiness for commissioning and first fire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise installation of HRSG modules, drums, casing panels, structural steel, and access platforms.
- Review and support heavy lift plans and oversee execution of critical lifts.
- Oversee HRSG piping installation, including valve/instrument placement, welding, NDT, heat treatment, hydro testing, and preservation.
- Prepare and supervise execution of hydro tests, piping flushes, chemical cleaning, and air/steam blows to meet cleanliness requirements.
- Support removal of safety valve plugs, insulation installation, and coating/painting activities.
- Conduct system walkdowns, track punch list items, and document non-conformities and quality issues.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations on installation methods, tools, and resource planning.
- Interface with HRSG OEM/vendor engineering teams and support resolution of technical issues.
- Participate in site coordination meetings and schedule reviews, providing progress updates to site leadership.
- Ensure subcontractors comply with site safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Support final HRSG audit and readiness activities prior to gas turbine first fire.
Job Requirements:
- Strong hands-on knowledge of HRSG construction, installation, and pre-commissioning activities.
- Experience supporting combined-cycle gas turbine power plants and balance-of-plant systems.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, installation plans, and procedures.
- Strong field leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to work extended hours based on project schedule and critical path needs.
Education / Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in HRSG installation, commissioning, or power plant construction.
- Direct experience supporting HRSG installation and pre-commissioning activities required.
- Previous experience working with major EPCs or OEMs is a plus.
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred.
