About the Position
Selkirk is a remote 1B school district serving a close-knit rural community where athletics play an important
role in building character, teamwork, and school pride. The Head High School Football Coach leads the
development of a competitive, educational, and positive football program. This role fosters athletic skill
development, sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth, while mentoring student-athletes both on and
off the field.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to meet all WIAA coaching standards
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain prior to season)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree (education preferred)
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate
  • Prior Football coaching experience

Essential Responsibilities
• Plan, organize, and supervise all aspects of the high school football program
  • Develop and implement practice and game plans
  • Make and keep practice plans
  • Monitor air quality and humidity levels during practices
  • Maintain weekly equipment checks
  • Supervise assistant coaches and coordinate staff responsibilities
  • Promote academic success, discipline, and sportsmanship
  • Maintain equipment inventory and recommend purchases
  • Ensure athlete safety and compliance with WIAA and district policies
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administration
  • Oversee off-season program development and summer activities as permitted

Compensation
$5,000 Per the 2025–2026 Selkirk Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule
