Position: H&S Engineer

Job Summary
The H&S Engineer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing Health & Safety (H&S) policies, procedures, and statutory requirements across projects. The role ensures compliance with inherent technical safety principles, approved corporate codes of practice, and company technical safety engineering standards. The H&S Engineer plays a key role in promoting a strong HSE culture and ensuring alignment with local regulations, Ashghal requirements, and international standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
(Include but not limited to):
- Work with engineering teams under the direction of Lead Engineers to prepare and produce HSE engineering deliverables, assuming Lead Engineer responsibilities when required.
- Ensure full compliance with project HSE requirements, Ashghal regulations, local laws, and statutory obligations.
- Review, comment on, and approve HSE deliverables including RAMS, HSE Plans, Traffic Management Plans, Emergency Response Plans, Lifting Plans, Heat Stress Plans, and Project Logistics Plans.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to approved HSE plans and procedures.
- Report safety performance metrics and recommend improvements to the Project Management Team.
- Represent the QHSE Department in establishing and managing safety programs and hazard mitigation strategies.
- Promote visible H&S leadership through inspections, audits, toolbox talks, and site engagement.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, including liaison with the organization’s ERT.
- Record, report, and follow up on incidents, near misses, and QHSE non-conformities until closure.
- Support Quality, Business Development, and Tender Management activities as required.
