Wood is recruiting for a HSE Engineer to join its technically challenging and interesting projects.

The Role

Wood is currently looking for HSE Manager to support our Projects business. Ma’aden is executing a strategic project to develop a new gold mine and processing facility in alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and Ma’aden’s 2040 Strategic Objectives. Located in Ar Rjum, KSA .

Typical responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide strong HSE leadership to the Ar Rjum IPMT team and contractors, promoting a proactive HSE culture.
  • Develop project-specific HSE plans, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
  • Align HSE strategy with Saudi Arabian mining and environmental regulations, Wood’s corporate HSE policy, and international best practices (ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Risk Management & Compliance
  • Identify, assess, and manage HSE risks across all project phases (engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations).
  • Ensure full compliance with Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture (MEWA), Saudi Mining regulations, and client-specific requirements.Oversee daily HSE operations, including inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action closeouts.
  • Ensure contractor HSE performance meets contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness and site-specific health and welfare arrangements.
  • Training & Awareness
  • Develop and deliver HSE induction, toolbox talks, and ongoing training for all site personnel.
  • Mentor and coach site supervisors and engineers to enhance HSE competency and ownership.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead incident investigations (including root cause analysis) and drive lessons learned.
  • Prepare and submit HSE reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to the Project Director and client.
  • Promote continuous improvement through audits, feedback, and best-practice sharing.

Expected :

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
• NEBOSH International Diploma or equivalent HSE certification is mandatory.
Experience:
• Minimum 12–15 years of HSE experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HSE management role on large-scale mining, Mineral processing, or oil & gas EPC/IPMT projects.
• Strong background in remote site operations and camp-based projects.
• Technical Skills:
• In-depth knowledge of Saudi and international HSE regulations and standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).
• Strong experience with risk assessments, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.
