HSE Officer

The Role

• Develop, implement, and monitor HSE plans, procedures, and policies in line with company and regulatory requirements. • Conduct site inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards. • Identify potential hazards and risks on site and recommend corrective actions. • Monitor safe work practices among site personnel, subcontractors, and visitors. • Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for workers. • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare reports with recommendations for prevention. • Ensure compliance with local laws, building codes, and environmental regulations. • Maintain HSE records, permits, and documentation for audits and management review. • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and contractors to implement safety measures. • Promote a safety-first culture on site and encourage reporting of unsafe conditions. • Assist in emergency preparedness, drills, and first-aid arrangements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Civil Engineering. • 6 years of experience as an HSE Officer in building construction projects. • Strong knowledge of construction site safety regulations, risk assessment, and HSE management systems. • Experience in conducting site audits, inspections, and safety training. • Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools. • Strong communication, observation, and coordination skills. • Ability to enforce compliance and promote a safety culture. • Certification in NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent HSE qualifications. • Experience in high-rise or large-scale building projects. • Knowledge of environmental protection and waste management practices on construction sites.
