AL DAHRA AGRICULTURAL is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE & Sustainability Director to lead and enhance our commitment to health, safety, environment, and sustainable agricultural practices. This leadership role within the QHSSE & Sustainability Department is a critical position responsible for shaping and driving the company's strategies in these pivotal areas to align with global best practices and the company's sustainability goals.
About the Role
As the HSE & Sustainability Director, you will be the strategic lead in developing, implementing, and continuously improving health, safety, environmental, and sustainability frameworks across our agricultural operations. Your expertise will support a culture of safety and responsibility while reinforcing AL DAHRA AGRICULTURAL’s commitment to sustainable farming.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards.
- Lead sustainability initiatives that promote resource efficiency, minimize environmental impact, and foster social responsibility within the farming division.
- Manage risk assessments and safety audits, implementing corrective actions to mitigate hazards and improve safety performance across the company.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to integrate sustainability and HSE goals into operational planning and business development.
- Drive awareness programs and training for employees at all levels, cultivating a proactive safety culture and promoting sustainable practices.
- Monitor and report on sustainability metrics and HSE performance, providing data-driven insights to stakeholders and facilitating continuous improvement.
- Engage with regulatory authorities, industry bodies, and the local community to ensure alignment with environmental and social governance (ESG) expectations.
- Lead incident investigations with a focus on root cause analysis and the implementation of effective prevention strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or MBA is preferred.
- NEBOSH and/or IOSH certification is required.
- ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certifications are highly preferred.
Experience & Competencies
- 15+ years of progressive experience in HSE and Sustainability roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Proven leadership experience in HSE and sustainability management within agribusiness, agriculture, manufacturing, industrial, or multinational environments.
- Strong experience managing multi-site operations and leading cross-functional teams.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, occupational health & safety standards, risk management practices, and sustainability frameworks.
- Strong strategic planning, stakeholder management, and project management capabilities, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all organizational levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively drive and communicate HSE and sustainability initiatives internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to build a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
