HSE Trainer

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

The HSE Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) training programs for all employees. The primary goal is to ensure that all personnel are well-informed on safety policies, compliant with regulatory standards, and equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and responsibly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Training Program Development and Delivery

  • Needs Assessment: Collaborate with management and HSE professionals to identify training needs based on risk assessments, incident reports, and compliance requirements.
  • Material Creation: Design, develop, and update engaging and effective HSE training materials, including presentations, manuals, e-learning modules, and hands-on exercises.
  • Conduct Training: Deliver training sessions to employees at all levels (new hires and experienced personnel) on a wide range of topics, utilizing various methods (classroom, virtual, workshop, on-the-job).
  • Specialized Training: Conduct and/or coordinate training for specific high-risk topics such as:
  • Emergency Response (e.g., First Aid, CPR, Fire Safety, Evacuation Drills)
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
  • Permit-to-Work systems
  • Specific equipment safety (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, Working at Height)
  • Environmental topics (e.g., waste management, energy conservation).

2. Compliance and Documentation

  • Regulatory Alignment: Ensure all training content is current and aligns with local, state, federal, and international HSE regulations (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH, specific industry standards).
  • Record Keeping: Meticulously maintain accurate records of all training activities, including attendance, assessment results, and employee competency profiles, ensuring they are accessible for audits.
  • Effectiveness Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through performance assessments, feedback mechanisms, and analysis of key safety indicators (e.g., incident rates), making adjustments for continuous improvement.

3. Safety Culture and Support

  • Promote Safety Culture: Act as a champion for safety, actively promoting a proactive and positive HSE culture throughout the organization.
  • Consultation & Guidance: Provide support and guidance to managers and employees on safety-related matters and best practices.
  • Inspections and Audits: Participate in workplace inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and training gaps.
  • Incident Follow-up: Assist in the investigation of accidents and near-miss incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions, particularly new or revised training to prevent recurrence.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education and Certifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Education, or a related technical field is often preferred.
  • Professional Certifications (Preferred):
  • "Train the Trainer" certification or equivalent instructional design qualification.
  • Industry-recognized HSE certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or an OSHA Trainer certification (e.g., OSHA 500/501).
  • Specialized certifications (e.g., First Aid Instructor, Fire Safety certification).

Experience

  • Proven experience (typically 2+ years) as an HSE Trainer, Safety Specialist, or in a similar role focusing on adult education and health and safety within a relevant industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering engaging training presentations and materials.

  • Training and Facilitation: Excellent presentation, public speaking, and facilitation skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences and adapt to different learning styles.
  • HSE Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey complex safety concepts.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate training records and developing compliant materials.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess training needs, investigate incidents, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in using training technology, presentation software (e.g., MS PowerPoint), and Learning Management Systems (LMS)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED11,000.00 - AED13,000.00 per month
