Job Summary: The HSEW Systems and Governance Director oversees the development and enhancement of the HSEW Management System, and subsequently assessing compliance with standards through audits, inspections, monitoring, analysis and review activities across the ME Business. They drive continuous improvement initiatives, set and analyze KPIs, and compile performance reports to guide strategic decision-making and promote a culture of safety and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

HSEW Management System Development:

  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of the HSEW Management System in line with company requirements and recognized international standards (e.g., ISO45001).
  • Act as the ME Region representative and change manager for the corporate HSEW Management System.

Compliance Audits:

  • Manage the ME Region Internal Audit process.
  • Schedule and conduct comprehensive risk-based audits to ensure compliance with established HSEW systems and arrangements.
  • Support Global HSEW and Peer Review audit processes.
  • Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Incident Review Process Management:

  • Assist in determining Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) categorization for reported incidents.
  • Manage the incident review process for internal evaluation and considerations of SIF incident investigations.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams in identifying how learnings from incident investigations can be effectively shared.

Review, Learn, and Improve Initiatives:

  • Compile and share lessons learned from audits, incidents, and other learning opportunities to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at reviewing current practices, learning from past experiences, and implementing improvements.
  • Support the ME Region HSEW Management Review process by providing appropriate inputs and data relating to the HSEW Management System performance.

KPI Setting and Analysis:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the HSEW Management System and Strategy.
  • Analyze KPI data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and report on HSEW performance.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on KPI analysis.

HSEW Reporting:

  • Review outputs and findings from Regional HSEW Team audits, inspections, assessments, etc., to assist in identifying both good practices and potential risk areas for further investigation.
  • Prepare and issue monthly performance reports detailing HSEW performance metrics and compliance status.
  • Compile quarterly HSEW performance reports that provide a comprehensive overview of HSEW activities, achievements, and areas needing attention.

Change Management:

  • Undertake and record impact assessments and required actions to support any proposed changes in the ME Region HSEWMS or other HSEW-related arrangements (e.g., legislation changes).

Digital Transformation and Innovation:

  • Lead adoption of digital tools for audit, reporting, and incident tracking.
  • Explore AI/data analytics for predictive safety insights.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Professional certification in HSEW (e.g., CMIOSH) is preferred. Minimum of 20 years of experience in HSEW management, with a focus on assurance and compliance. Strong knowledge of HSEW standards and regulations (e.g., ISO45001) Lead Auditor certification (e.g., ISO 45001) to reinforce audit credibility.
